I expect that means it will be available within the next week or so, hopefully. The Shneak was lucky enough to present on the set of one of the last scenes for which Mr. Noa needed extras. She's not at liberty to give us any details, but did tell me it was a very exciting scene, and she was glad to be able to add a little "multicultural ambience" to the background of the action. :-)

Thrilling Pilot Episode Finally Airs!

Mr. Noa, our intrepid director, should be complimented. Having been though an exhausting week and then getting all of 6 hours of sleep in 48, I stayed up until midnight the night before I was supposed to leave for Thanksgiving vacation at 4:30 AM, just so I could catch the Pilot Episode of Hitman, Season 4, hot off the Get File. I was not disappointed. Witty dialogue and a great build-up in tension make this segment one of the better of all four seasons.
This episode brings us up to date with what’s been going on in the lives of our favorite characters in the 3 months since Red Fox deserted his post in pursuit of revenge. Chechnya is now an all-out war zone, threatening to de-stabalize Russian-American relations and drag these two super-powers into conflict (with the shadowy encouragement of a one very pretty, very deadly arms dealer to help them along, of course) . Gina (Kyte Thomson), her puppy-eyed affection for Red Fox still unrequited, has been combing the underbelly of the intelligence world in search of her long-lost love. President Hearst is struggling to keep his country out of war without compromising his principles, all while trying to contain the pangs of his own conscience where Red Fox is concerned. Red Fox himself, it seems, has been running around Chechnya blowing things up (“to avoid being captured by the KGB,” says Director Thorne). We finally catch up with him after one battle too many, as he awakens, wounded, in the hut of an attractive-but-bitter Chechen widow. The episode wraps up with the President deciding to go on a mad-cap mission to find his lost friend.
All this update leads to my one of my two complaints: there seems to be too much exposition, and not enough action. I realize the exposition is necessary, and I also understand the limited time and resources available to Streaming Media Network, but still, “show don’t tell” seems like a better policy overall. It seems very abrupt, for example, after 6 months of waiting for this episode, to see Red Fox for the first time lying on a bed. I would’ve liked to see at least a little bit of the battle in which he was wounded, or at least a bit of Ana finding him. This might help to explain why in the world this hard-bitten Chechen took him in in the first place.
This leads me to my second complaint: this plot calls for very many stretches of the imagination, even by Hitman standards. I am able to accept the fact that the Former CTU-Director, with his commando background, could lead a mission in the middle of a war-zone; but asking me to believe that the President of the United States could put himself into such an utterly dangerous situation, not to mention a very sticky foreign policy mess if he gets caught, without the MAJOR protestations of the Secret Service and every one of his Foreign Policy aids from here to the Potomac is a bit much. I’m not really sure I buy it. What is the Secret Service even doing letting him into Europe, much less Chechnya, with nobody but one Secret Service Agent, the Director of CTU (what the heck is that all about? One bomb lands in the wrong place and half the agencies on the hill are going to need new employees…), the assistant to the CTA liaison, and some random-bio-terrorism-expert/kitchen-cabinet member? Just one scene showing Jeremiah pulling rank on an extremely-reluctant Dan Burns (a.k.a. Head of the Secret Service) might make this just a little easier to swallow.
Despite my purist complaints, I really enjoyed this episode. The photography, editing, and acting continue to improve. It had great, witty scenes and lines, especially between David Carver’s “CTA Cyber-Ops Agent” and Peter Kamakawiwoole’s Malcolm. I especially appreciated the return of the President's "beatific vision" at that crucial moment. A little like something I've been hoping Mr. Noa would do all along. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.

She's Baa-ack...

Alright gang of Fellow Hitman Fans, I'm back! Though, because of an incredibly full schedule for your favorite Lady in Black this semester, I won't be posting as often as I or you might like.

I know I still owe you a review of Season 3's last episode, so here's a quickie:

After episode 4, I'm not sure what to think anymore. It takes us into the darkness of Red Fox's bitter soul, and reveals an unknown danger close to the President just as he and Red Fox part ways. When I wrote that I hoped Mr. Noa wouldn't shrink from showing Red Fox's dark side, I'm not sure this is what I meant! Needless to say, Red Fox will have a lot of explaining to do when/if he gets himself out of this one. What I'm not sure I get is why Red Fox made the choice he did. If all he was after was killing the Hitman, why didn't he do it when he got the chance? Is he trying to redeem himself by getting to the bottom of the situation? Is he still planning on killing the Hitman after he's lead Fox to the answers? I'm not sure Red Fox's "defection" makes a lot of sense for his character. Then again, maybe Season 4 will explain what needs to be explained.
As episodes go this one is a little slower, with lots of talking and contemplative music, but that makes sense seeing as it's a bridge between the action-packed episode 3 and Season 4.

In other news, I got a sneak-peak at a script today, and boy is Mr. Noa milking the whole "betrayal" theme for all its worth! Will President Hearst ever be rid of friends wanting to do him in?! Also in store: a Chechen "holiday" *wink* for our illustrious hero.

Ouch

Well, The Cost of Devotion, ep. 3 of Season 3 is out and ready for public consumption; and lets just say that Hitman fans may feel the emotional cost of their devotion to this series after viewing this hard-hitting episode. It has its light moments, such as Red Fox's Vocelli story, Kyte Thomson's effectual use of those big blue eyes (Judah, please don't kill Paul. They're just acting), and the priceless image of Jonathan Bales throwing Mr. Protic (a.k.a. the Prison Warden) a machine gun (it'll take a while to recover from that one), but this episode mostly consists of a high-body-count prison raid and the tragic, tear-jerker death of a major character. Let's just say that Red Fox now has one more large reason to hate Craven and the Hitman. I guess Mr. Noa hasn't lost his ability to surprise and shock us with his plot twists!

Things I Liked:
- The fight at the prison (Amy, Joanna, I never knew you had it in you)
- Tobin and Craven going hand to hand.
- Finally figuring out what the Chechen raid at the beginning of the season has to do with anything.

Things I Giggled at (that I wasn't necessarily supposed to giggle at)
- The pen-scrawled paper taped to Red Fox's office door that said "Director, Red Fox."
- The fact that President Hearst (very obviously) doubled as one of the soldiers in the Prison fight.
- Hiding a gun in a trash can?

Things I Didn't Like:
-Alright, I admit it, I was a big fan of Tobin's character. Why'd he have to die???!!!!
-Some incontinuity in the prison fight...I distinctly saw Nick Isley die, and then there he was in the next scene...Reminds me of Edie Hitchcock's "double death" from last season.

In other news, Mr. Noa graciously allowed me a visit to the set last week, along with some sneak peaks of future footage. Having now been witness to what exactly goes into the filming of a scene, I have alot of admiration for Mr. Noa and his actors. They put in a good half-hour of acting and scene-shooting for every couple minutes of actual screen time!
As for my sneak peak, well, let's just say this: Vocelli's back, and the Mysterious Man in Black won't get a chance to die of lung cancer... ;) Until the next episode (due out sometime this week), au revoir!

Alright...Finally...

Here's my (extremely late because of extremely good reasons) review of the 3rd Season's 2nd episode. (Mr. Noa, you still don't pay me enough...*wink*)

"Echoes of Pain"

This episode runs a bit slowly for a Hitman segment, because it's mostly talking. Informative talking, with some hilarious quips, but talking nevertheless. We dig a bit more into the intrigue surrounding the raid on the Chechen compound in the first episode (with a down-right frightening Dr. Sanders barking Russian as Kevin O'Brien), see a bit more of Tobin Duby's "green-kid who's guaranteed to be some kind of hero by the end of the season" character, and get a dose of Red Fox's darker side as he tortures his old nemesis, Hitman: finally back as his cryptic, smart-alek, knows-but-isn't-telling self.
This episode does raise some questions.
1. How much truth is in the Hitman's statement foreshadowing the President's death? Jeremiah Lorrig is a staple to the cast, with (dare I say) a large female fan following, though perhaps not as extensive as newcomer Tobin Duby's. It would be extremely sad to see him go. Personally, I think it would be a mistake to kill him, as much of a mistake as it would be to kill Jack Bauer or Chase Edmunds half-way through a season of 24. The world needs 'the real Director!'
2. How far will Mr. Noa take Red Fox into the depths of power and despair? He showed tendencies in this direction last season, but I suppose Kyte Thomson's lovely "Gina" or the President's wise platitudes aren't enough to keep him distracted from his inveterate angst this time around. I hope Mr. Noa will be willing to face Red Fox's complex character to the fullest, and not give us any easy-ways out of Red Fox's decisions.
3. How many times do we have to hear the Hitman repeat the words "I killed your brother, I killed your wife?" We got that fact 2 seasons ago, Mr. Noa. The line is dead. :) Unless, of course, he wants to play with some potential humor and make it one of those "I've got a bad feeling about this" lines, Star Wars style.

Over all, a good, albeit slow, episode. We await its descendants with great interest...

Coming Soon...

...Reportedly: more Hitman episodes... ;) Also, the review so long over-do for the last episode. I have one word for you: Midterms!!

Today I have some lovely leetle spoilers, plus some "big news." Big news concerning this fan blog, that is.

The second episode is now in post-production, or so my sources say, and is slotted for release some time this weekend. The big news for this episode is the appearance of one of our esteemed faculty. Hint: she's the most intimidating woman under 5'6'' I've ever met in my life. Yes, that professor. I can't wait. Also featured will be a villian from last season, (I'm guessing it'll be Raynel Burner's Black Cobra, since the only other surviving villian not already in the story, Hitman, is not yet planned into the script <or>) and David Carver (remember that green-screen scene the Shneak caught him filming?). One big surprise: our very own President Hearst has a love interest, and she'll be showing up in the next episode!! Thanks, once again, to all my lovely little spies. The Real Director could not have been anything without you.

And that brings me to our piece of "news": having entered into negotiations with the production company, I have decided to cease my furtive dealings (i.e. sell out) and become a legitimate member of the Hitman publicity team. Though I'd rather my mask not be removed just yet (I'm still the Lady in Black after all), I decided this site could serve our readership better with more regular news and a better relationship with Mr. Noa, Streaming Media Network, & Co.
Therefore, this site will now recieve regular news updates from legitimate production company sources, as well as contain fan reviews, commentary, and rumors. This will not be an "official site" kind of thing, wherein the production company controls all content. The Black Lady is not so obsequious as all that; but it will be more of a legitimate fan site, instead of a shneaky rumor mill. Since it is just that, a fan site, I now welcome all comments, reviews, news, etc. that you, the fans, may be able to offer us. Email me at stealthandsplashinc@hotmail.com with any and all things you may want to share, and I'll post them at my discretion.

Welcome to the new, improved Real Director.

Some Corrections...

Having now seen the new episode myself, I can add some corrections to "The Shneak's" story. Agent Thorn was the director of CTA, and Red Fox accepted the President's offer to replace her. The battle in the beginning was between Aaron Gray's Chechen (Russian-speaking) rebels and some (English/German speaking) commandos. The exchange between the Mysterious Man in Black and John Crutcher's character makes me wonder if he's some kind of American/German mercenary. I hope his character comes back. I'll post some of my predictions later.

EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL PREMIERE

One of my *vast legion* of informants happened to be present at the well-attended premiere of the first episode of Hitman, Season 3:

"There were at least 20-30 people packed into the Red Hill lounge to watch the premiere. Daniel gave a 'little speech' (he loves doing that, it seems)(he couldn't stop doing it last season ;D) and the credits rolled. David Carver's new score really hit the spot, especially the main theme. Very inspiring. The movie started out with who-else but our beloved "Mysterious Man in Black," instigating (I'm assuming this from some of the lines: "Use American weapons..." etc) a mini-war between some German-speaking terrorists and ourselves. John Crutcher handled the commando scenes well, and it was at this point that I noticed the excellent picture quality that Daniel's new equipment gave the show. Of course, there was alot of laughter and hooting in the audience throughout this part: Hitman action sequences are supposed to look kinda corny. Next we went back to the US, where we learn that our characters have gone through some significant changes. The CTU Director is now President of the United States (going by the name "Hearst")("What kind of name is 'Hearst?'-Red Fox ;D), CTU is now a separate government agency called CTA, either Red Fox or Agent Thorn (Emily Holmes' character) is the CTA new director (I wasn't quite sure), Red Fox misses his wife, and is falling in love with the lovely assistant to the CTA's liasion to the Executive Branch (played very sweetly by Emily Thomson). All in all, it looks as if the Mysterious Man in Black and a certain pretty Arms Dealer (Lauren Leach) are trying to play the US against the terrorists in order to get the President to send troops to Chechnya (hey, Chechnya is kinda near the Balkans, you were nearly right on that one...). The episode ends on an exciting note with an attack on the President (I don't want to spoil it...watch it when Daniel *finally* uploads it onto http://shippytp).
To conclude, I was very impressed by the new standard of cinematography (Robert Hogan made a short cameo as a dead body) and the passingly-good script. There were quite a few memorable lines (Rookie CTA Agent: "Don't shoot, I'm CTA!" Red Fox: "Yeah, I know, it's embarrassing me.") and some great new characters (especially Tobin Duby as a rookie agent with alot to learn). I await the next episode with anticipation..."

There you have it, folks. My Congratulations to Mr. Noa on a good beginning. How will future episodes play out? Keep tuned into The Real Director to know.

OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE

The word is out: the long-awaited first-episode of Season 3 will be premiere at 4pm, Sunday the 20th of February, in the Red Hill lounge. This last blog implies that this character has been in all three seasons, but I'm not sure who it may be yet. I suppose we'll find out in time...

Also just in:

"Overheard at lunch one day, from one of the actors in the commando scenes which they filmed last weekend: 'Yeah, Daniel wants Jeremiah in a pool of blood...' Regards, The Shneak."

Of course, the part about the blood doesn't really make sense, since it seems to be a Daniel Noa tradition to use only small amounts of blood in his films, if it must be used at all. I can only post when my schedule permits. At the moment, my schedule is less than cooperative, but your comment galled me into action.

Today, I find that my sources have truly outdone themselves. One writes to tell us:

"The first filming for season 3 began last weekend.
The first episode involves the use of green screen, a
pitched terrorist fight of some sort, and will be set
in winter." - This corroborates with John Crutcher's ASE asking for camouflage clothing and Mr. Noa's recent casting call asking for "commandos." The ASE also mentioned that John will be handling a lot of the combat filming for the new season. I applaud Mr. Noa for his excellent taste in that regard. John is sure to give us both realism and good action. I am also quite interested by their use of green-screen technology: the production company is clearly going all-out to give us an excellent show this spring.

"Producer/Director/Writer Daniel Noa was heard saying
that Emily Holmes's agent (named in the credits of the
all-in-one DVD edition as "Agent Thorn") is still
alive and will be filmed soon (this weekend??)" - Ah, so one of our old favorites will be return after all. I am glad.

I have also become recently aware of the fact that Robert Hogan will be the new cinematographer, replacing last season's Jennifer Pinkerton. My source tells us to "expect a new look," and I truly hope that this means the production quality will be even more excellent than it was last spring. This same source also informed me that my recent leak concerning the Balkans was a mistake...it had been taken from an old, discarded script and had nothing at all to do with Season 3.

Saving the best for last: A spy planted deep within the production company has revealed this tasty morsel: RED FOX'S BROTHER ISN'T DEAD! Of course, this tidbit does little else for us except make us salivate for more information. True, thinking back on the episode which dealt with the younger Fox's "death," you never saw him (Matt Roche) actually shot, or declared dead. But there does seem to be a lot you can't get around: if he's not dead, who's body did they find in his room? How did he get away? Did Hitman let him escape? Why didn't he return earlier? Was he really shot, but not killed? Did the "three bullets lodged in his brain" line refer to the fact that he'd suffered brain-damage but not death? Was the brother "in" with Hitman the whole time? (That seems unlikely, seeing as he fought with him before his "death" and alerted CTU of the assassin's presence) We wait on the edge of our seats for the confirmation of this leak. Meanwhile, what do you think? The Real Director would be happy to entertain any of our fan's theories...

Where to Begin...

Scoop of the Week:
A certain little morsel has been brought to my attention, from some lucky (brave) spy who happened to catch a glimpse at the first page of the script. And let me assure my detractors that neither lead actress Emily Thomson, nor her roommate, Maggie Dougher, had anything to do with this leak. (Maggie's friends have insisted that I stop asking her for info...suspicion was growing in her direction. Of course, she knows who I am, but stop asking her to give me away. She's much too loyal.) This tip arrived by annonymous email a couple days ago. Anyway, the spy only saw one word on the first page:

The Balkans

Of course, that's not much of a spoiler, but it does give us some room to conjecture. If, as some rumors have seemed to suggest, the Hitman has a past association with the Balkans, might this first scene be of his old colleagues discussing his imprisonment, springing him from prison, or his prior escape from prison? In any case, getting Hitman out of prison some way or another will have to be a part of the first few episodes, I think, which leads to another conjecture: the imminent death of either Josh Garboczi, David Snyder, or both, since they were cast as prison guards last season.

Speculations and Sundry

Why hello, my fellows, and welcome back! This week, I mean to try and conjecture a little as to what we may expect in the next season. As usual, your comments are welcome and desired!

Now, it is fairly simple to figure a few things out about next season, using process of elimination. Thanks to the hyperactivity of weapons in the last two seasons, only the following people/characters could possibly return next season:

- The Black Cobra
- The Lady in Black which Nichole Recker played
- The Mysterious Man in Black (played brilliantly by Krull)
-That CTU Agent that Joey Pietrowicz (sp?) played (both his partners killed off...pity)
-The Director
-Red Fox
-The Agent that Emily Holmes played
-Micah Towery as "The Good Computer Geek"
-And a few other sundries: the reporter, the senator, the National Security Advisor, the President, prison guards, etc. (so lucky they escaped the overwhelming carnage...)
*Edited 1-21-05*
GAAK!! Of course, how could I forget the venerable Mr. Vocelli, his esteemed body guard, and of course, the villian-of-all-villians, Hitman himself!!? I'm getting senile in my old age *creaks* These characters, also, survive, which makes me wonder...hmmm. More on that later.

(please let me know if I've left anyone out...the Lady in Black always loves recieving better intelligence)

Of course, probably not all of these will return, and we'll have (as before noted) some new talent this season. Having wrapped up that last storyline rather nicely (with only a few interesting lose-ends), I predict that Mr. Noa will give us something a little different this spring. Of course, a romance will be involved, which is the first major change. Same main characters, same villian, some of the same themes, but pretty different. Like the new season of 24 perhaps, knowing Mr. Noa's particular propensity to parallel that show. If I had to guess, I would think that Mr. Noa couldn't resist bringing back Krull's and Nichole's characters, since they drove away so mysteriously into the darkness last time we saw them, at least for a little while. A cameo by Joey might be nice too, considering he's the only one of his inteprid trio to live past the last two episodes. Concievably, a few people we assumed to be dead might have only been wounded: David Handermann, Daniel Chapin, Nathan Cooper, etc., so they could be back also.

I would love to make a few predictions about the story...but my few sources seem to have dried up of late. Cowards. Never fear, the Lady in Black can be very resourceful when she needs to be.

Script Spat Resolved

According to our sources, Emily Thomson and Daniel Noa came out of tense negotiations last night, having resolved the problems reported earlier. According to a self-described "close friend," she stomped around and demanded that her name be more "sophisticated." No word yet as to if this will affect her participation in our beloved series. Neither Miss Thomson nor her agent were available for comment.

Welcome!

Welcome, oh shadowy "Hitman" fans! Of course, if you're a fan of this movie, you're most likely a student at Patrick Henry College, which also provided most locations for this smash hit. By now you've probably heard the good news that a third season has been announced, whose new Teaser Trailer may be found at the production company's website. We here at The Real Director are especially excited at the potential which new freshmen may add to this production.

Much Ado Star Tapped for Lead

"The Shneak," one of our spies "in the know," has leaked the news to us that Emily Thomson, whose recent role as Beatrice in Eden Troupe's production of Much Ado About Nothing stole our hearts, has been tapped to play [edited for legal reasons]

Noa Taps Into Freshman Talent

Last year, "Hitman" was mainly a freshman project, as director and all three main leads were freshmen. This year, a number of freshman students are still finding their way into Hitman's world. David Carver is in the midst of writing an exciting new score, selections of which may be heard on his iTunes play list, "Winnipeg Central Bank." Tobin Duby has, according to rumor, been intrumental in the script writing process. A freshman will be playing a lead character (see above). This writer hopes that Daniel Noa will continue to recognize the enormous talent evident in the freshman class. One can imagine the many possible roles filled by the class of '08: Daniel Hebda as a soft-spoken-but-deadly British agent? Quinn Harr as a brilliant forensic investigator? Jake Corwin as the-CTU-computer-geek's-apprentice? :D It all remains to be seen. And The Real Director will be here to lea...er...to tell you when it happens. ;)
